Elephants photographed standing by highway at the scene of tractor-trailer fire

Three elephants were rescued from a tractor trailer fire and waited on the side of a highway in Georgia for the blaze to be extinguished.

Fire Department crews responded to I-24 eastbound, just across the state border in Georgia, about 2 a.m.

The owners had removed the elephants from the trailer and they ate some hay at the side of the highway while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.

The owners of the tractor-trailer were able to get another tractor to their location so they could continue their trip to Sarasota, Fl. From there, the elephants boarded into the trailer and continued on to Sarasota, Florida.
