Packers cut TE Martellus Bennett with failure to disclose physical condition designation

If he clears waivers, Bennett will become a free agent, able to sign with any other team.

The NFL's transaction list showed Bennett was waived with "failure to disclose physical condition" status.

In seven games for Green Bay this season, Bennett has recorded 24 receptions for 233 yards and zero touchdowns. He's benefitted from playing alongside one Pro Bowl tight end, and Travis Kelce would remain the top target of both Alex Smith and defensive efforts. He wasn't Gronk - nobody is - but his ability as a blocker and receiver allowed the Pats to move forward after Gronkowski's season-ending back injury in Week 12. His 33.3 yards per game is the lowest total of his career since 2011 when he found himself behind Jason Witten on the tight end depth chart with the Dallas Cowboys. Under Head Coach Mike McCarthy, the Packers are 17-7 against the Bears during the regular and postseason, including wins in 13 of the last 15 games.

Real Want Neymar… To Replace Ronaldo
The Spanish giants are back in action after the global break when Real travel to the Wanda Metropolitano to face Atletico Madrid. When he's not scoring goals, Ronaldo won't be happy.

Bennett, now in his tenth season, last played on October 22.

In October, Bennett took to Instagram to write that he's considering retiring from the National Football League after the 2017 season. Not only did he have two years remaining on his deal after this year, he was due a $2 million roster bonus if he was still with the team on the third day of the 2018 league year.

The Packers (4-4) opened the season 4-1 but have lost all three games since star quarterback Aaron Rodgers sustained a broken right collarbone October 15 against the Vikings.

At this point, we don't even know why Bennett was let go, but fans can dream and the midseason addition of a player like Bennett makes sense for myriad reasons as the Chiefs look for ways in the bye week to kickstart their team's offensive creativity.

However, it's still an unusual situation in Green Bay, and it'll be interesting to see how things play out over the next couple of months.
