Born on December 24, 1924, Rafi ventured into the Indian music industry as a playback singer in 1941 and never looked back till his sudden death in 1980 at the age of 55.

It is legendary singer Mohammed Rafi's 93rd birthday, and what could be a better tribute from Google than a doodle?

The master of multiple languages, Rafi lent his voice for over 5 thousand numbers in Hindi, English, Farsi, Arabic, Sinhalese, Creole and Dutch over the span of 40 years. Sunday's doodle created by Mumbai-based illustrator Sajid Shaikh shows the Badshah of playback singing crooning a number in a studio, while actors give life to it on the silver screen. Rafi was a kind and gentle man.

Major General Bajwa asserted that the United States has had acknowledged safety of nuclear assets in Pakistan. Lodhi said that peace in Afghanistan can not be restored through continued military force.

Rafi was buried at the Juhu Muslim cemetery and his burial was one of the largest funeral processions in India as over 10,000 people attended his burial. One of my favourite songs of Rafi.

Rafi started humming songs while working at a barber's shop run by his relative to training under Ustad Abdul Wahid Khan.

The post also mentions how Rafi won his first Filmfare award in 1960 for 'Chaudhvi Ka Chand' and later the National Award for the song 'Kya Hua Tera Wada'. Rafi was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1967.

Mohammed Rafi took the Indian music industry by storm with his impeccable voice and alluring persona.

His other popular songs include 'Teri Pyaari Pyaari Surat Ko", "Mere Mehboob Tujhe", "Chahunga Main Tujhe", "Baharao Phool Barsao", "Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein", "Badi Mastani Hai", "Parda Hai Parda", "Dard-e-dil, Dard-e-jigar' and 'Maine Poochha Chaand Se'.

During his entire career, he worked with many great music directors like O.P. Nayyar, Laxmikant Pyarelal and R.D. Burman, Rafi and delivered some of evergreen hits including Yeh duniya yeh mehfil, Chura liya hai tumne, Tum jo mil gaye ho and many more.
