John Gotti biopic shot in Cincinnati bought from Lionsgate

Gotti, Gotti, gone. Just ten days before John Travolta's John Gotti biopic was set to open, Lionsgate has cut ties with the movie.

Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Anthony Hopkins were all down to portray Gotti in the film but the part eventually ended up with John Travolta.

Entertainment company Lionsgate parted ways with the production about the American gangster.

Deadline reported that the film's producers wanted a wider release than what Lionsgate's specialty arm Lionsgate Premiere planned, so they exercised a buy-back clause.

"Gotti" started production and filmed at various places in Hamilton and Butler counties in 2016 after several delays and false starts.

Travolta is joined by his wife Kelly Preston and their daughter Ella Bleu Travolta, as well as Pruitt Taylor Vince, Stacy Keach, Chris Mulkey, Lydia Hull and rising star Spencer Lofranco.

Last week Lions Gate dropped "Gotti" from the December schedule.
