The officers, none of whom were struck, fired back, shooting and killing El-Mofty.

The gunfire began shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, when the man fired several shots at a state Capitol officer in downtown Harrisburg, striking his vehicle several times and sending one shot "that went very close to hitting him", Marsico said.

At a news conference, Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico also told reporters that "it certainly appears there's no doubt" that 51-year-old Ahmed Aminamin El-Mofty targeted police officers, though an investigation into the suspect's motive was still underway.

"He is a chicken", Soweilam, who described himself as El-Mofty's ex-brother-in-law, said.

Department of Homeland Security Acting Press Secretary Tyler Q. Houlton said Saturday that El-Mofty was a naturalized USA citizen who was admitted to the country from Egypt on a family-based immigrant visa.

Apple might be slowing down old iPhones to preserve battery life
While Apple did have a free battery replacement program in November 2016, it was limited only for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. On Thursday, Apple was hit by two separate class action lawsuits , one filed in California , and another filed in IL .

The DHS official said the shooting in Harrisburg highlights theTrump administration's concerns about extended family chain migration.

"He fired several shots at a Capitol police officer and at a Pennsylvania state police trooper in marked vehicles", Marsico told reporters, flanked by state police, Capitol police and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials.

Soweilam said El-Mofty visited the Middle East, but stressed he was a gentle man.

The entire weird incident may have begun with a crash involving the police cruiser at Third and Locust streets, about four blocks from the Capitol building. About a half hour later, the same man is suspected to have fired at a female officer who was struck once.

He added that El-Mofty had ties both to the Harrisburg area and the Middle East, and had recently traveled to the Middle East. The officer has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Teen Charged in Connection to Shooting Deaths of Husband, Wife
Police claim the teenager snuck into the family's home on Thursday and when Scott Fricker told him to leave he shot both parents. Reports suggest he was dating their 16-year-old daughter and shot them when they confronted him over some issue.

Later, he used two handguns to open fire at several officers who then returned fire and killed him, according to a statement from the Dauphin County district attorney's office.

"At first it sounded like firecrackers", eyewitness Michael Burton told Harrisburg ABC affiliate WHTM.

"We got to the alley up there and the cop was there, he had his long rifle out".

"You shoot at the cops, you get what you get", Burton said.
