Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe has insisted that although Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo was his idol when he was younger, he will not be looking up to him when the French giants play Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

"There were a lot of rumours, it is true that we talked, but it is all in the past for me and also for Real Madrid, I guess".

"It was fantastic to meet him when I went to Valdebebas (Madrid's training ground) but I no longer have those feelings, due to me now being a professional too".

Mbappe, speaking with Marca, confirmed he turned down Real to move to PSG.

"What we want to do is win and be competitive, it's good that we are the best attack in the world, but it doesn't guarantee you anything, it's the whole team that wins", added Mbappe.

Zidane has won eight titles during his two-year spell in charge at Santiago Bernabeu, including last season's La Liga trophy and two Champions League triumphs.

The former Monaco star also believes teammates Neymar and Edison Cavani can help his development just as much Ronaldo could.

"Neymar is here and I think he is very similar and is at practically the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo". I still learn from him, clearly.

"People see him doing tricks and dribbles and think that he is only trying to enjoy himself, that he's selfish and only thinks about himself".
