Shashi Kapoor: Veteran Bollywood Actor Passes Away At 79

The entire film industry mourned the death of the veteran star Shashi Kapoor, who passed away on December 4, 2017.

Born on March 18, 1938, to the illustrious and formidable theatre and film actor Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor hit the spotlight at the age of four, acting in plays directed and produced by his father.

Among his memorable films were "Deewar", "Kabhie Kabhie", "Namak Halal" and "Kaala Pathar". He co-starred with Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan in each.

He started in films as a child actor in the late 1940s.

He made his debut as a leading man in the 1961 film "Dharmputra" and went on to appear in more than 116 films during the '70s and until the mid '80s.

The Press Trust of India news agency said Kapoor will be cremated on Tuesday.

He is survived by his daughter Sanjana, and sons Kunal and Karan. His wife Kendal, with whom he founded the leading Prithvi Theatre, died in 1984.

"Peshawarites have great love and respect for the Kapoor family and Bollywood actors belonging to the ancient city", CHC secretary Shakeel Waheedullah told Press Trust of India.
