Shilpa Shetty has apologised for alleged derogatory remark about India's scheduled castes

Confirming the news, Vice President of Rojgar Aghari Republican Party of India, Kishore Masoom, told IANS on phone, "We highly condemn Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty for using such words that show us in bad light". Allegedly, Salman first used the casteist slur word- bh**gi while referring to his dancing skills.

FIR claims that Khan used word "bhangi" in a derogatory way during a television show where actress Katrina Kaif was also present.

Some reports suggest that the incident took place some two years ago during an interview.

Meanwhile Salman Khan had already expressed his regrets stating that he never thought to hurt anybody during show and his expression was not taunting rather he was cracking a joke. The Valmiki community has filed a complaint against these Bollywood stars.

Yesterday the Valmiki community held protests against Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The use of the term "bhangi" in an inappropriate way has apparently irked the Valmiki community that has sought action against the film stars, reported ANI. "I'm proud to belong to a country that boasts of diverse castes and creeds and I respect each one of them".
