Wildfire burns homes, winery in LA's posh Bel-Air neighborhood

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti declared a local state of emergency in response to the latest new fire, the 125-acre Skirball Fire, named for the cultural center near the 405 that was threatened, along with the affluent residential enclave of Bel Air. Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for an area of Bel Air bounded to the north by Mulholland Drive, to the south by Sunset Boulevard, the 405 Freeway to the west and Roscomare Road to the East, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Three firefighters were injured and hospitalized in stable condition, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The fires in Southern California have quickly spread, forcing authorities to shut down the 405 freeway near the Getty Center.

"This area should be ReadySetGo and be prepared for possible evacuation for Skirball Fire in December 2017", a notification on Google Maps read. "We are a resilient city, we are a strong city, we are a capable city".
