But that's the takeaway today, as Marvel announced (via Mashable) that Wolverine will be the star of the company's first scripted podcast.

After conquering film, comics, books, TV and even gaming, Marvel is now setting its eyes on scripted podcasting.

Wolverine: The Long Night will be released on Stitcher in spring of 2018, and will hit wide release on other platforms in fall of 2018. Instead, Wolverine will be voiced by Richard Armitage, who played Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit trilogy. The twosome join forces with deputy Bobby Reid, Broadway's Andrew Keenan-Bolger (TUCK EVERLASTING, NEWSIES, MARY POPPINS), to investigate their main suspect, Logan (Richard Armitage).

Kim Kardashian West & Laverne Cox Team Up For 'Glam Masters'
The victor from each week will advance to the Tournament of Masters finale to determine who is the Glam Master . Glam Masters is described as an eight-episode series that puts beauty influencers through themed challenges.

Marvel describes the project as a "hybrid of mystery and the larger-scale fantasy", following a pair of agents on the trail of a serial killer in Alaska.

"Because he's been mind-wiped again and again, he doesn't know the whole bad truth about his life".

The Long Night is said to be inspired by true crime podcasts Serial and S-Town, along with a healthy dose of the HBO series True Detective for good measure. Logan showed that Wolverine is defined more by his trauma than his role as a superhero, making him the flawless character to test the waters of a comic character outside of a visual medium.

Comic mainstay Ben Percy (The Wilding, Red Moon) will be writing all 10 episodes, and Brendan Baker (Radiotopia's Love & Radio) will direct.

Scott Adsit, Bob Balaban, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Zoe Chao, Chaske Spencer, Jordan Bridges, David Call, Michael J. Burg, and Lannon Killea will also lend their voices to the series, while Chris Gethard, host of the "Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People" podcast, will make a cameo appearance.

While the story is all worked out and the cast is in place, the minds behind the show saw they're still working on nailing down Wolverine's signature snikt sound when he pops his claws.
