His party had just five members in the house of 65. The political crisis has been intensified by speculation, widely circulated in media, that elements of Pakistan's powerful military were behind efforts to destabilise the region and possibly dissolve the assembly ahead of the senate polls due around March, and the general elections in mid-2018.

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid candidate Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo and Pashtunkhuwa Milli Awami Party member Agha Liaquat vied for the top office of the province. Addressing a joint news conference in Quetta, Deputy Opposition Leader in the provincial assembly, Engineer Zamruk Khan Achakzai along with other coalition partners hoped that the nominated Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo would establish peace and security in the province and address the public issues.

The session of the house is being headed by speaker Raheela Durrani.

The crisis heightened with the resignations of several cabinet members and advisers to chief minister Zehri.
