The Packers had a change in the front office with general manager Ted Thompson stepping down from his role.

The son of former Packers general manager Ron Wolf, Eliot Wolf arrives in Cleveland after a 14-year stint in Green Bay, where he most recently served as the team's director of football operations.

While Wolf and Highsmith are the big talking points, the Browns also announced some other moves within the front office. Wolf ultimately made a decision to join Cleveland after interviewing with the team Tuesday. His father is Ron Wolf, the legendary architect of the great Oakland Raiders teams of the 1970s (with owner Al Davis) and then the modern-era Packers juggernaut. Gutekunst spent the last two seasons as director of player personnel. Wolf will hold the title assistant general manager for the Browns, according to multiple reports.

The younger Wolf, who reportedly had a job opportunity in Oakland with former Packers executive and current general manager Reggie McKenzie, had been the director of football operations in Green Bay since 2016. Cleveland's new assistant GM under John Dorsey has quite an impressive resumé and reputation for a 35-year-old. After leaving the Packers in 1998, Dorsey rejoined the team in 2000 under the same title.

All three worked with the Chiefs under Dorsey, who was surprisingly let go by the team in June after four seasons.

Wolf will be joining another familiar face from the Packers, Alonzo Highsmith.

Highsmith spent 19 years in Green Bay's scouting department.

With the additions of Dorsey, Wolf, and Highsmith to the front office, the Browns have built one of the best front offices in the NFL. Dorsey, Wolf and Highsmith bring a history of winning to an organization that went 0-16 in 2017 and 1-31 over the last two seasons, the worst stretch in National Football League history. Their front office is starting to shape up. They enter the offseason loaded with draft capital and cap space.
