The free-agent outfielder is set to return to the Big Apple after agreeing to a $39 million, three-year contract, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.

The Indians acquired Bruce from the Mets on August 9, one day after left fielder Michael Brantley suffered a sprained left ankle, for Lake County Captains relief pitcher Ryder Ryan. He hit.256 with 29 home runs and 75 RBI for the Mets last season. He was acquired from Cincinnati in 2016 and played 50 games for NY that season, followed by 103 games in 2017 before coming to the Tribe. Bruce had a WAR of 2.9 during this season.

Jeurys Familia will hopefully stay healthy this year, and having guys like AJ Ramos, Jerry Blevins and the aforementioned Swarzak waiting in the wings makes the pen solid.

While robust for relievers, the free agent market this winter has been shockingly slow for other players. Though Mike Moustakas' name had surfaced in chatter last week, the Mets don't view the free-agent third baseman as a realistic possibility.
