Oldest ever supernova record found in almost 5000-year-old rock carving

Astrophysicist Mayank Vahia and his colleagues at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research mentioned in the study that the rock art could be the oldest record of a supernova. The theory of sun and moon has been negated though on account of the proximity of two objects on the markings, and also because of the fact that moon should appear less bright when it is nearer to the sun. They found that supernova HB9 had exploded around 3600 BC making it highly pobable that the markings indeed show evidence of the same supernova.

The rock art, which shows figures of humans and animals below a sky where two objects seem to be shining brightly, is said to date back to between 2100 and 4100 BC. We search the supernova catalogue to look for a possible supernova that could have had the brightness comparable to that of Sun or Moon and close to ecliptic between 2000 BC and 10,000 BC since the etching is believed to have been done prior to 2000 BC and be visible from Burzahama.

A supernova is a massive stellar explosion that takes place during the death of certain stars.

Boos continued, mixed with applause, after Trump walked onto the field and waved to the crowd. The White House did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily News.

"This is not a terrestrial hunting scene but is actually a sky-map giving location of prominent constellations and the Moon on the day the supernova was first observed", he noted.

But astronomers have nearly as much trouble figuring out when a supernova exploded as archaeologists do pinpointing when a carving was made.

The oldest human art is substantially earlier than normally assumed and carved humanfemale forms have been dated to seventy five thousand years or more. The oldest settlement in Burzahama was found to have a history dating back to around 4100 BC.

Jammu and Kashmir in north India is often called Heaven on Earth on account of its breathtaking beauty. The carving has been one on an irregular stone slab with a size of about 48 cm by 27 cm.

Apparently, Vahia and his colleagues guessed it to be a supernova and along with sun in the unusual picture where few people are hunting down a dear-like animal under two bright objects.

The carving also consists of a figurine resembling an animal to the left of the hunter drawn above the hunter's spear suggesting that the depiction could be a hunting scene.
