SRQ, Allegiant announce new flights

Spencer and Rick Piccolo, president and CEO of Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, said the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and Visit Sarasota helped bring Allegiant to SRQ.

Indianapolis via Indianapolis International Airport (IND) - beginning April 11, 2018 with introductory, one-way fares as low as $56. The Sarasota flight will be year-round, while the Charleston one is seasonal, according to a release by the Indianapolis International Airport.

According to a news release, the new nonstop routes will operate twice a week, bringing almost 30,000 passengers to Charleston. This will bring the total number of Allegiant destinations from CVG to 21.

This addition comes just weeks after boutique carrier Elite Airways announced plans to start nonstop service from Sarasota to Pittsburgh. Airline officials said more routes are possible but didn't comment on what they would be.

Allegiant Air now has a growing Southwest Florida presence just south of Sarasota at Punta Gorda Airport.

These new flights will operate twice weekly and are expected to bring almost 52,000 new visitors contributing to the local economy in the area. "These two new destinations are just the start for a great future with Indianapolis International Airport and Allegiant".
