In an article for Forbes, Moorhead confirmed Vivo would be first to use the tech.

Based on Vivo's press statement, the fingerprint scanner is placed between the OLED and glass panel covering the display. Synaptics had earlier revealed that a Tier 1 manufacturer would introduce the first phone with the under display fingerprint scanner at the CES 2018. Samsung had gone with a rear-mounted unit while Apple has ditched it completely on the iPhone X. This technology is being considered as the future of fingerprint scanning in smartphones.

Vivo in-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology supports various usage scenarios beyond unlocking the smartphone, and is only activated when needed. We were told it would be ready on a Vivo phone soon.

Theatres do not have to play Indian anthem
The new decision, Indian news outlets reported, allows theatres to choose whether to play the national anthem. According to him, most ministries in the government would be represented in this committee.

The most prominent features of the under-display fingerprint include the fact that it is resistant to sweat and dust.

Synaptics and Vivo announced that we'd see what's marketed as Clear ID inside a flagship-level device at CES, and that's exactly what happened.

Somewhat surprising, but not too surprising since Synaptics has talked about how fast Clear ID is, the time it takes between placing your finger on the display and the phone unlocking is just as fast as a typical fingerprint reader.

"With our efforts in extensive consumer research and long-term R&D investment, Vivo is well positioned to pioneer the development of fingerprint scanning technology", said Alex Feng, Senior Vice President, Vivo. After seeing the The Verge's demonstration video of the fingerprint sensor, it very much feels like Apple's first-gen Touch-ID sensor, which is certainly unconventional to the current generation accustomed to the fingerprint sensors.

At this week's tech event in CES 2018, Vivo is finally showing off its in-display fingerprint scanning phone which is nearly ready for mass-production. Last month, Synaptics announced that the first smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner will be from a "Tier 1" manufacturer (Top-5 smartphones brand in terms of production). We are also waiting to know the name of this phone. The handset was a bit slower in learning the contours of the user's fingerprint and unlocking the device using the fingerprint.
