Google Pixel yearly sales double to 3.9 million in 2017

According to IDC's numbers, Google shipped 3.9 million Pixel phones in 2017. The original Pixel may have contributed significantly to this figure as well and to the claim of unit shipments doubling than the previous year because the original Pixel was launched in October 2016 and it continued to sell well into 2017.

Jeronimo points out how it's a "remarkable achievement to double sales", especially during a time when consumers mostly already have smartphones. For comparison, it's a "tiny portion" compared with the entire 1.5 billion market size for smartphones altogether, Jeronimo said.
