Teddy Bridgewater: Inks deal with Jets

According to WCCO's Mark Rosen, former Vikings quarterback Bridgewater is finalizing a deal with the New York Jets. The 25-year-old Bridgewater was a first-round draft pick in 2014 out of Louisville and was largely considered a rising star at his position before the injury.

But for the most part, we can expect most of the reported deals to be wrapped up, which could make for a boring start to free agency-most of the guys agreeing to deals they'll sign and their representatives simply setting the market.

Apparently, the Jets are prepared to give him the starting job at quarterback from the get-go even though they also re-signed Josh McCown to a one-year extension.

UNCG finished the first half going 0 for 13 from 3-point range, before hitting just three in the second half to finish 3 for 22. Alonso and Troy both finished with 16 points for UNCG, while James Dickey had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

With an estimated $90 million in salary cap space, they haven't been afraid to go out and acquire roster upgrades despite missing out on top free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins, who will sign with the Minnesota Vikings. He was right on the cusp of breaking out when he suffered a dislocated knee and torn ACL on a non-contact play during training camp. One of the top ranked cornerbacks in the league plans to sign with New York, Trumaine Johnson.

NY swiftly turned its attention to Bridgewater following a failed pursuit of coveted free agent Kirk Cousins.

In 95 career games over 15 seasons, McCown has completed 60.4% of his passes for 17,168 yards with 97 touchdowns and 78 interceptions. He'll likely combine with Darron Lee to man the middle of the Jets' linebacker group.

However, Chelsea captain Gary Cahill is one of those to pay for a lack of game time at club level as he is left out. There is a first call-up for Hillingdon-born defender Alfie Mawson, who has impressed for Swansea City this season.

Williamson turned down a four-year, $12m deal to remain with the Titans.

Crowell is joining the Jets on a three-year contract, adding depth to their backfield following the retirement of Matt Forte. Although he did rush for 853 yards, he only had 2 touchdowns on 206 carries. Now, he brings his skill set to a team with one established veteran (Jermaine Kearse) and several talented youngsters (Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, ArDarius Stewart) that he can pass to, giving him a far better group than he was working with during his healthy years in Minneapolis. If he does not, he can be a free agent again next year.
