It's only a one-year deal for the talented defensive player, but adds a lot to Houston's secondary.

The Packers, meanwhile, have struck out on all the top cornerbacks in free agency, including Kyle Fuller, who agreed to an offer sheet worth $14 million per year (twice what Mathieu will make) but returned to Chicago after the Bears matched the deal. After a relatively surprising release, Tyrann Mathieu is heading to Houston to join Jadeveon Clowney, J.J. Watt, and Deshaun Watson with the Texans. After all, 2017 was the only season so far during Mathieu's young career that he's played in all 16 regular season games as he had previously missed at least two games per season prior to that with shoulder, knee and thumb injuries.

For the sake of clarity, Mathieu's one-year deal is worth only $7 million, which is relatively low-priced for a player of his talents.

The Honey Badger, as Mathieu is widely known, is one of the league's more versatile defensive backs. Mathieu received a $15.5 million signing bonus and a $1 million base salary that was fully guaranteed in 2016. By midseason, Mathieu began showing signs he was turning a corner.
