Xiaomi's budget Redmi 5 makes its way to India

Xiaomi's Compact PowerHouse has landed in India.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 was launched in China a year ago in December and showed several upgrades in terms of design and performance from its predecessor. It comes with a metallic body and is the slimmest Redmi device with 7.7mm thickness. It comes with reinforced corners to protect the large display of the phone. It comes in four color options such as Lake Blue, Gold, Black and Rose Gold. However, the screen on the Redmi 5 has 18:9 aspect ratio to it and tiny bezels on top and bottom of the display, making the overall footprint of the device in-line with that of Redmi 4. The Redmi 5a Prime has a hybrid 32GB ROM and a 3GB RAM while its counterpart, the Redmi 5a houses 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM. It is equipped with two sheets of pyrolytic sheet that reduces the temperature of device by 2 degrees. Also, there is a 5-megapixel camera on the front of Xiaomi Redmi 5 which comes with a soft-light flash module as well which comes along with Xiaomi's beautify 3.0 technology to enhance selfies. Its 32 GB and 64 GB variants respectively features 3 GB of RAM and 4 GB of RAM. User gets a 3,300mAh battery, which is less than the predecessor's 4,100mAh battery in the predecessor. While it might seem that the battery should last longer on the bigger phone, it has the higher resolution display to cater to, so the battery life shouldn't really be different, but that depends on the usage. The handset is capable of snapping impressive shots in low-light conditions. There is also a 5MP secondary camera equipped with selfie flash.
