Apple Music Promotes New Head of Global Operations, Reaches 40M Subscribers

Oliver Schusser has been named head of Apple Music Worldwide, moving up from his London-based role as VP of Apple Music & International Content. Today's announcement also gives us an updated count on the number of paying subscribers using Apple's streaming music service. Schusser has previously led launches of Apple services including the App Store, iTunes Store, and iBooks for global markets, as well as managed label, studio, and publisher relations for Apple outside the US. Previously, Schusser has worked on projects like iBooks, Apple Podcasts, iTunes movies and TV and Apple Store, as Variety notes. Both businesses bill $9.99 a month for streaming new music but provide discounts for both family and student programs.
