Breaking his silence on the Kathua and Unnao rape cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the incidents had shamed the nation and no offender would be spared as the government was committed to ensuring that victims of the crimes received full justice. "Our daughters will definitely get justice", Modi told a rally in Delhi. "Now some of them are giving us homilies of not to politicise these things", he added. The Prime Minister was referring to the gangrape of 17-year-old Unnao girl by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and gangrape rape and murder case of eight-year-old Asifa Bano in J&K's Kathua by eight men in a Hindu temple. "This is shameful", Modi said after widespread outrage over the incidents in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, and the Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh. "We are all ashamed as a society, as a country", Modi said, speaking at the inauguration of the Ambedkar National Memorial here. Modi said social justice is not a lip service for the government but a commitment. "It is an insult to the sacrifice made by the freedom fighters who gave their future for the nation".
