Fortnite servers took a 12-hour emergency maintenance hiatus


It looks like that comet was headed for Epic's servers and not Tilted Towers after all. The unspecified time extended to over 12 hours, which was more than any other time the servers have been down. The folks at Epic Games noticed that and they made a decision to shutdown the servers for a couple of hours in order to fix the login issues.

Additionally, the new patch also brings back the 50 v 50 game mode, which has now been changed to 50 v 50 v2.

The latest update, as of four hours ago (at the time of writing) is that the company is still working on the database upgrade and the game remains offline.

At least we know that when things to go wrong, we can count on the fine folks at EPIC to make up for it with some free stuff. It's understandable, given the scale of the issue they had to divert efforts to fix.
