Saina Nehwal went to win the second game, claiming her second individual Commonwealth Games gold medal by defeating World No. 3 PV Sindhu 21-18, 23-21 in a riveting women's singles final on Sunday at Gold Coast, Australia. Her younger opponent, Sindhu, had to remain content with a silver medal.

The tussle was protracted, lasting over an hour for just the two games that were necessary to decide the destination of the gold medal - coincidentally, Hyderabad, whatever the result of the encounter.
