Trump Says 'Nice and New and "Smart!"' US Missiles Headed For Syria

Syria's army has evacuated key defense buildings in Damascus over fears they might be targeted by Western strikes in response to an alleged chemical attack, a monitor said Wednesday.

The tweet came as Trump administration officials have consulted with global allies on a possible joint military response to Syria's alleged poison gas attack.

The officials declined further comment and it was not clear whether the Syrian moves would impact United States military planning for potential action against Syria over a suspected poison gas attack, Reuters reported.

Trump's condemnation of the apparent chemical assault on the rebel-held Syrian town of Douma raised the prospect of USA military retaliation nearly a year after he ordered a cruise missile strike on a Syrian air base after a similar poison gas attack.

'Get ready Russia': Trump tweets Syria missile threat
Trump canceled a foreign trip in order to manage a crisis that is testing his vow to stand up to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Western leaders, including the U.S., France, and the United Kingdom , are coordinating on how to respond to the attack.

In Mauro's opinion, it would be beneficial for the "double-down" on its relationship with Kurdish fighters. "We don't want bombardment which leads to escalation and a hot war between the United States and Russian Federation over the skies of Syria".

Last year's USA attack was limited to 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles aimed at destroying Syrian warplanes. Russia downplayed the incident at the time, saying the dead Russians were private mercenaries not affiliated with the government.

Mattis Won't Rule Out Military Action After Recent Attack In Syria
A Navy destroyer, the USS Donald Cook, was underway in the eastern Mediterranean after completing a port call in Cyprus. The draft resolution, obtained by The Associated Press, was circulated ahead of an emergency Security Council meeting.

Citing information previously released by local health organizations, WHO said that "an estimated 500 patients presented to health facilities exhibiting signs and symptoms consistent with exposure to toxic chemicals". Rescue workers said they found 42 people dead in their homes. (AAP) The Syrian government and Russian Federation deny the attack ever happened.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Wednesday that US and allied officials were assessing intelligence related to the attack Saturday.

The Kremlin has said it will shoot down US missiles if it conducts a strike, and that it would view such an attack as a war crime.

Zasypkin also said a clash between Russian Federation and the United States over Syria "should be ruled out and therefore we are ready to hold negotiations".
