Ag Teacher Accused of Drowning 'Nuisance' Animals


As one of the students recorded cell phone video, Brewton and the students plunged them into the water and sprayed them with a hose to kill them.

A video of the shocking incident shot by a student who was upset about it has gone viral on social media.

"My son joined ag science, because he loves animals not to torture them", a parent told Fox 35, which was also provided the video but called it "too disturbing" to share.

A freshman student told WFTV that the raccoons were killed because they had killed several chickens.

Officials said Forest High School agriculture teacher Dewie Brewton was removed from class "pending the outcome of a district investigation", according to the Ocala Star-Banner.

"We obtained statements that the trainer drowned a number of animals in entrance of scholars, and with scholar participation, as a result of the animals had been nuisance animals to the [agriculture] program on the college", Marion County Faculty District spokesman Kevin Christian informed the Star-Banner. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said they're investigating and will determine if anything illegal occurred. While the investigation is underway, the teacher is suspended from teaching. Caught them in cages. "They should have trapped the animal and had somebody take them and relocate the animals", she added. "It made me sick to my stomach", said the mother, who asked to remain anonymous.

"When the raccoons tried to come up for air, they had metal rods and they held them down with metal rods".

But the incident had left many students in a complete nightmare as the raccoons were put inside cages and then forcibly submerged in a large trash can of water.

"We would like to say that we are 100% behind our adviser and everything he does for our children/students".

On Facebook, the alumni group of the Forest High School Future Farmers of America posted a statement defending Brewton, saying he was a man "who would give everything" to make sure students were taken care of. "He has spent late nights, weekends and has provided around the clock support for his club and for his school".
