Li wrapped up an official visit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Japan on Friday, the first by a Chinese premier in eight years. But it would not cover those near the uninhabited islets known as the Senkakus in Japan and Diaoyus in China, which are controlled by Tokyo and also claimed by Beijing.

During Li's visit, Asia's two largest economies signed several documents on cooperation, including a memorandum of understanding on setting up a maritime and air liaison mechanism, a crucial step in managing issues in the East China Sea. "Through actual behaviour, let's show that we three nations support engaging in free trade".

Sun Cheng, a Japanese affairs expert at the China University of Political Science and Law, said while Li's visit was a good sign for bilateral ties, suspicions ran deep between the two sides.

Moon proposed that the three countries lead the new world economic order based on innovative means of growth and establish a new paradigm for cooperation.

According to Yoon Young-chan, an official from the South Korea's Blue House, " The two heads of state agreed the global society, including the U.S., should help guarantee a bright future for North Korea like ensuring the regime's security and economic development if North Korea completely denuclearizes".

"But cooperating under the belt and road plan will be good for Japan too, because it's an opportunity for Japan to reach broader markets through this New Silk Road".

It is the first time the emperor has met with a Chinese premier since meeting with Wen Jiabao in June 2010.

Japan fears that any deal struck with North Korea will ignore its concerns, while China is working hard to make sure that Kim Jong Un doesn't move out of its sphere of influence.
