For most of the documentary's running time, director Kevin Macdonald brings Houston's sadly curtailed life to the screen in a manner reminiscent of Amy, Asif Kapadia's 2015 documentary about the late singer Amy Winehouse: It begins with the lovely voice and the career full of promise, and then come the drugs, the bad-influence husband, the grifting family members, and finally the tragic death.

It has been six years now since Houston died, putting the final full stop on a long and turbulent life which saw her make newspaper headlines for a quarter of a century, first for the gift of a soulful voice that made her a singing star around the world, and later as a drug-ravaged shadow of her former self.

The emotional trailer features appearances by Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, her brother, Michael Houston, Bobby Brown, as well as legendary music executives Clive Davis, Babyface, and L.A. Reid.

Viewers will also get to hear from Houston herself thanks to the inclusion of home videos that show her in some of her most vulnerable states.

A new documentary about Whitney Houston's life claims the late singer was sexually abused by a female family member when she was a child. Two of her close relatives revealed that her abuser was musician Dee Dee Warwick, who died in 2008. It also covers the depths Houston traveled to "lift up" her husband, Bobby Brown.

"That led somebody to tell me, 'Whitney told me she was abused, ' but they wouldn't go on camera", Macdonald said.

A new documentary about the life of Whitney Houston alleges that the singer was the victim of sexual abuse as a child. She was a attractive woman, but she was never particularly sexy.

Could legal sports gambling become a reality in Colorado?
In 2017, lawmakers discussed adding some limits and more specific definitions to fantasy sports games, but that bill went nowhere. The pro-gambling side cited the Tenth Amendment as its main argument, while the anti-gambling side cited the supremacy clause.

Whitney explores other aspects of her sexuality as well, including her alleged affair with longtime friend Robyn Crawford. "The real story, as I dug deeper, had to do with her family, and to do with race, I suppose, and her childhood".

Dionne Warwick's representatives didn't immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment.

In wide release, the movie will be released July 6.
