LG Launches the Google Assistant on 2018 AI Enabled TVs


The Google Assistant is one feature from the tech giant that will receive a number of major changes and improvements. With Google Assistant on LG TVs, you can ask your TV questions in natural language, and it will answer you or take the appropriate actions. The Google Duplex technology is now in development so don't expect it to land on your phone any time soon, but it shows the potential power of voice assistants. At the I/O 2018, more related information and details were shared with the public.

The fact that Google demonstrated YouTube running on these smart displays was also a not-so-subtle swipe at Amazon, whose Echo Show lost access to YouTube due to an ongoing conflict with Google past year. If you may remember, some Smart Displays were announced including the Lenovo Smart Display, ARCHOS Hello, and the LG ThinQ (WK9).

The displays, which are manufactured by companies like Lenovo, JBL, LG and Sony, were announced at CES in January, but this marks the first confirmation of when they're set to release.
