The moment a doctor mocked a patient who suffered an apparent anxiety attack has been caught on camera.

After waiting hours June 11 at El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos, Calif., Samuel and his father, Donald Bardwell, were surprised when Dr. Beth Keegstra showed up with a security guard, reported KPIX.

In the South Bay, 20-year-old Samuel Bardwell suffered from what he believes was an extreme anxiety attack Monday night during basketball practice at West Valley College in Saratoga. Bardwell's father, Donald, told ABC that Keegstra said, "I know why you people are here, you people who come here for drugs".

"She said, 'I know why you people are here, you people who come here for drugs, '" Bardwell told the paper.

Video of the tense exchange between Dr. Beth Keegstra and patient Samuel Bardwell, 20, has been viewed more than 3.5 million times, drawing outrage from critics who demanded Keegstra's immediate firing. When he tells Keegstra he can't get up and is having trouble breathing, she laughs and says, "He can't inhale. Wow!"

"I'm sorry, sir, you were the least sick of all the people who are here, who are dying", the physician is heard in the video telling Bardwell, who apparently lifted his head to acknowledge the doctor. "Please know that we take this matter very seriously and the contracted physician involved has been removed from the work schedule, pending further investigation".

Donald Bardwell told The Chronicle that Keegstra was accusatory from the start. She even tries to yank him up after he clearly states that he can not move. They also posted a message where they publicly apologized to the family and said the doctor showed an unprofessional attitude towards the patient. "And I said, 'What do you mean you people?' ... I need you to take out your phone now cause I have a feeling something is gonna happen".

Bardwell asks for anxiety medication, to which the physician responds by asking if he needed "narcotics".

A LinkedIn page for Keegstra identifies her as a doctor with Vituity/California Emergency Physicians, a group that contracts with hospitals to provide emergency-room physicians. "Because if it's not a race thing and she treats everybody that way, then that's a problem", Donald Bardwell said. "It was so agonizing pain it surprised me they were urging me to get up". "Sam played for maybe five minutes before he had to step out", Bardwell's coach, Scott Eitelgeorge, said.

Bardwell said he has contacted a lawyer and is considering taking legal action against the hospital.

The doctor also states on her page that she has worked for the Mayo Clinic since 2013.

"He can't inhale!" said Keegstra. "In my mind, I don't think she should be practicing medicine at all".
