Pep Guardiola hits back at Yaya Toure for his ‘lie’

The Ivory Coast worldwide, who brought to an end a successful eight-year spell at the Etihad Stadium last month, launched a scathing attack on the City manager this week.

Speaking earlier this week, Toure, who was released by City at the end of the season after spending eight years with the Premier League champions, lashed out at his ex-coach, saying that he wanted to "destroy the Guardiola myth".

Toure is rated as one of the greatest players City have ever had.

Guardiola says Toure "knows that I'm not racist" and did not raise the issue during their two years together at City. He never told me face to face'.

Majority owner Joe Lacob has no problem going deep into the luxury tax to keep chasing championships. That is also unlikely considering how hard it would be to move the contracts on it's roster.

Toure played his final game for City late in the season against Brighton & Hove Albion and was given a tremendous send-off by the Etihad Stadium.

And it seems the 35-year-old wasn't too happy with Guardiola's treatment.

"He turned all Africa against himself, many African fans turned away from Manchester City", he said.

Guardiola also insists he will never return for a second stint as Barcelona head coach and has no interest in becoming Camp Nou president. It was a fantastic age where I was taking on the world and we took it on, with some incredible players, a young president, Joan Laporta, Txiki Begiristain and the best player in the world, Messi.

"What do you want me to do", added Guardiola in an interview with TV3.

The 26-year-old Italy global has been a long-standing transfer target for Guardiola.

"We had a bad season with Chelsea", he said. "We won one Premier League".

"I let the board manage Chelsea in the best way they can in the coming weeks".
