Aaron Ramsey an important part of my Arsenal plans, insists Unai Emery

The new Arsenal boss snapped up midfielders Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi earlier this week but with Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Franics Coquelin all leaving the club over the past few months, it seems Emery wants another option in the middle of the park and Gomes is on his radar.

Arsenal have often been criticised for a lack of leadership on the pitch and Emery has a plan to eradicate that issue.

Emery has been busy putting his stamp on Arsenal's squad for his debut campaign, with five players joining the club during the close-season.

'My idea is to know every player and to know their personality, ' Emery said.

Arsenal returned to pre-season training this week and will play Boreham Wood on Saturday in their first warm-up game.
