English Premier League veteran striker Peter Crouch is being targeted by Football Federation Australia as a marquee for the A-League after the organisation was knocked back by Spanish forward Fernando Torres.
The first-division team announced that the 34-year-old, who had stints in the English Premier League with Liverpool and Chelsea, will wear the No. 9 jersey for Tosu, now 17th in the 18-team J. League standings.

"I hope to make my debut, at home, on July 21, then to be there for many years".
"We have had proposals from all continents", Torres told the media on Tuesday.
"I've had offers from France, Germany, even some options from Spain, but at no time did it go through my head to go to a European team, I wanted a new challenge in a totally different place".

Sagan Tosu president Minoru Takehara was present at the announcement, posing with Torres as he held the No. 9 shirt he he will wear next season.
But the 34-year old elected to choose Sagan, in a decision that might not come as too much of a surprise considering the J-League's official website accidentally leaked the transfer on their official website.
Despite winning the Champions League and Europa League with the Blues he struggled to recreate his Liverpool form at Stamford Bridge and was sent to AC Milan on loan ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.
