Hurricane Chris: Forecasters say Atlantic Ocean beachgoers should be wary -- latest updates

Tropical Storm Chris was expected to become a hurricane on Tuesday and create risky swells along the coast of North Carolina and mid-Atlantic states, the National Hurricane Center said. Chris is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 1 to 3 inches (25 to 75 millimeters) over Newfoundland, with possible isolated maximum amounts of 6 inches (150 millimeters).

Chris is continuing to gain forward speed today, now moving northeast at a quick 22 miles per hour. The reports are available in English at: National Hurricane Center and FEMA Daily Operations Briefing.

This is the second hurricane of the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

But it's too early to tell if wind or rainfall warnings will be required for Newfoundland.

Demonstrators will assemble outside the BBC building in Portland Place at 2pm on Friday and march to Trafalgar Square for a rally. Mr Trump is hardly likely to catch a glimpse of the six metre giant orange inflatable blimp that depicts him as a screaming baby.

Weather forecasters say Tropical Storm Chris has reached hurricane strength while moving away from the US coast in the Atlantic. Peak wind speeds may reach 90 miles per hour, it added. On average, the third named storm forms August 14, and the second hurricane forms August 29, so Chris is keeping the season's activity well above par.

Malone had been Thomas' coach during the 2013-14 season in Sacramento, two teams removed from the guard's arrival in Boston. But if Thomas shoots sub-40% from the field again and struggles to stay healthy, it may put his future up in the air.

Chris is now moving to the northeast at 10 miles per hour away from the East Coast and will accelerate through tonight and tomorrow.

Ocean swells along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia could reach up to three metres today.

'One projection showing low pressure just to the west of the United Kingdom is bringing wind and rain, but on another Chris is barely there.

Just like Chris, rough seas from Beryl would lead to unsafe beach conditions along the East Coast by the weekend.
