Serena Williams On Reaching Wimbledon Final 10 Months After 'Super Tough' Birth

It was clear right from the opening game of Angelique Kerber's Wimbledon semifinal how things were going to go. Yes, it's her 30th title match at any major.

Angelique Kerber has had a remarkable 2018 season thus far.

At the beginning of the match, it seemed as if it may just work with the crowd-pleasing Ostapenko mixing her big boisterous hitting with some drop shots, as if to signal that she has soft hands as well.

Williams will face off with Kerber on Saturday; if she is victorious, she'll tie Margaret Court's all-time record for grand slam singles titles.

Nine-time Wimbledon champion Martina Navratilova has said her "dream match" would have been on Centre Court against Serena Williams.

"Whatever happens, honestly it's an incredible effort from me", the 36-year-old Williams said, "and good motivation to keep going for the rest of my career".

The couple have a son who is now the highest ranked 14-year-old in Sweden. They both serve like demons, and don't return serves particularly well.

"That's why she is there where she is now", the German said after taming misfiring Latvian 12th seed Jelena Ostapenko 6-3 6-3 on today.

"We've always had a wonderful friendship. for a couple years she [has come] out to Wimbledon, has supported me", Williams said. I am inspired by her; she's a big role model.

Ostapenko saved a match point in the seventh and gained one break back, but it was not enough against the 2016 Australian Open and US Open champion. She had 14 winners and 10 unforced errors, while Kerber had three winners and - this was key - zero unforced errors.

It took Kerber two tries to serve out the victory, getting broken to 5-2. That was also the year the German was the runner-up at Wimbledon, losing to Serena Williams in the title match.

Meghan Markle has been pictured at Wimbledon on several occasions in the past, including in the summer of 2016, the summer in which she is thought to have met Prince Harry for the first time. "I had a hard birth, multiple surgeries, I nearly didn't make it".

The victory over Goerges extended Williams' winning streak at Wimbledon to 20 matches, dating to the start of the 2015 edition. Serena is also the third oldest woman in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam final, and is trying to win her first Major as a new mother.

Why Germany Can’t Buy Natural Gas From the US
To justify the project, the Nord Stream II company predicts the European Union will need to an extra 120 billion cubic metres of gas over the next 20 years.

Williams and Markle have been friends for years and Williams even got an invite to the Royal wedding.

Her daughter Olympia was born in September, but Williams then underwent emergency surgery to prevent life-threatening blood clots. With 23 major singles titles to her credit, Williams could easily have made a decision to call it a career at age 36. Or, more to the point on this afternoon, how such a stinging serve and groundstrokes didn't help her avoid first-round exits each of the past five years at Wimbledon.

"I still have a match to win", she said.

"She knows she needs to work on other parts of her game".

The second set followed a similar pattern with Goerges showing both courage and promise in the first half and then falling away a little in the next.
