Page worked on the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation, and her anti-Trump text messages with Peter Strzok fueled several investigations into whether the DOJ and FBI showed bias during the Russian Federation probe and the investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server.

"You need to understand that that was written late at night, off-the-cuff and it was in response to a series of events that included then-candidate Trump insulting the immigrant family of a fallen war hero, and my presumption based on that awful disgusting behavior [was] that the American population would not elect someone demonstrating that behavior to be president of the United States", Strzok said in explaining the text.

On Thursday, Strzok had his day in the hot seat before the House judiciary and oversight committees ― whom Kimmel called "bozos in the House" and a "collection of clowns".

But there was one particular exchange, involving Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.), a social conservative, that stood out for its personal animus and, many charged, its hypocrisy. It also reflects an effort to shift attention away from the content of Strzok's texts and onto what he says is the more pressing issue: the Russians' "grave attack" on American democracy and continuing efforts to divide the country.

Stephens went on to say that the hearing overall was a public service and allowed Strzok the opportunity to clear his name.

Trump himself has launched personal attacks against the two Federal Bureau of Investigation officials, including a Wednesday evening tweet that asked "how can the Rigged Witch Hunt proceed when it was started, influenced and worked on, for an extended period of time" by Strzok. In it, Strzok describes his reluctance to work on behalf of the special counsel, and that seemed to imply he didn't think there would be substantial findings of collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign team.

But while reinforcing his dislike for Trump, Strzok repeated several times that he did not believe that the messages showed bias, to the frustration and disbelief of Republicans.

After the commotion died down, Gohmert used the remainder of his time to ask Strzok if he had spoken to Clinton more than once and to remark, incredulously, "So after throwing away what you have, with all the bias you have, you've never even gotten a thank you".

House Judiciary Chairman Bob W. Goodlatte (R-Va.) cocked an eye at Strzok's claim of neutrality in the probes of Hillary Clinton's emails and the Trump campaign.

We all know that his response will be to work harder, try harder and score more runs - that's the nature of him", Farbrace said. In T20 you need players who can manipulate the strike and can keep you in the entire game and that is a skill that Joe has.

At one point, Strzok said he didn't appreciate an assertion from Gowdy, who retorted, "I don't give a damn what you appreciate".

"At no time in any of these texts did those personal beliefs ever enter into the realm of any action I took", Strzok said.

Strzok said "based on that terrible, disgusting behavior", he assumed Trump would not win the election.

"This investigation is not politically motivated", Strzok said.

"President Trump is being investigated by people who possess pathological hatred for him", Giuliani said.

Republicans, on the other hand, peppered Strzok with questions and expressed outrage that's been building for months.
