The 36-year-old stood to The Queen's left hand side and slightly behind her, as senior members of the royal family watched an historic fly-past on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate 100 years of the RAF.

The little princess wore a head-to-toe blue ensemble with a printed puff-sleeve dress and Mary Janes, while her brother opted for a dapper button-down, dark shorts and classic black loafers.

The Duchess of Cambridge is thought to have given a special nod to her late mother-in-law on Monday (July 9).

The RAF, described as the world's first independent air force, was founded on April 1, 1918 as an armed force independent of the British Army and the Royal Navy.

A century later, the RAF is engaged in 13 missions across 26 countries and is heavily committed on operations both at home and overseas, according to Buckingham Palace.
