The claim and the following arrangement for payments are laid out in documents between lawyers for Argento and Bennett, who once played her son in 2004's The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things.

"You are a powerful and inspiring creator and it is a miserable condition of life that you live among shitty individuals who've preyed on both your strengths and your weaknesses".

Shortly after those revelations broke in October past year, in November, Bennett's lawyers sent a notice of intent to sue to Richard Hofstetter, lawyer for the late Anthony Bourdain, who was also representing Argento at the time.

The New York Times report did not state that Argento admitted any wrongdoing. In the notice, Bennett explained that seeing Argento "present herself as a victim of sexual assault was too much to bear... and called up memories of their hotel reunion", according to The Times.
