The Crimson Tide has now been ranked No. 1 in the AP poll at least once in the last 11 seasons, the longest such streak in the history of the wire service's rankings.
Under-fire Apple removes 25,000 apps in China
According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, there are over 1.8 million apps in the country's App Store. Apple has pulled a massive 25,000 apps from its Chinese App Store following state media complaints about the company.
Every August, rankings releases are met with a popular refrain in response: that preseason polls don't matter.
Alabama, who has won five national titles since 2009, received 42 out of 61 first-place votes and will look to repeat last season's performance where they both started and finished #1 in the rankings.
There are not too many surprises at the top of the poll. It was the tenth consecutive year in which the Seminoles have opened the season ranked in the AP poll. Oklahoma State is the top Big 12 team among those receiving votes with 51 points (29th overall).
