House of Fraser website offline amid reported delivery 'wrangle'


HoF has already been forced to cancel all its online orders after a dispute with its third-party logistics company, XPO, which it owes £30m.

The decision to take the website down was taken after House of Fraser's warehouse operator, XPO Logistics, paused the processing of orders due to a dispute over payments, according to British newspaper The Guardian.

They're advising people who have these to post them to head office, although it hasn't been confirmed whether refunds will be issued.

This week Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley said he aimed to keep 80% of House of Fraser stores open, but the company reportedly wrote to more than 1,000 of the department store group's suppliers, including XPO, to say it will not cover money owed before Friday's "pre-pack" acquisition from the administrators.

"We didn't take this decision lightly, but since we can not give our customers clear assurances of when their orders will be delivered, we believe cancellation is the best option".

Connecticut-headquartered XPO, which operates HoF's warehouses in Wellingborough and Milton Keynes, has halted work as it tries to persuade Sports Direct to honour its existing contract terms.

Others remained unsure whether or not they would be receiving their orders. The announcement comes just two days after the retailer tweeted that deliveries would be made "as soon as possible".
