UK organ donation plan

The law would see the system change to an opt-out scheme, where people will be assumed to be willing to donate organs after death unless they have said otherwise.

The legislation is expected to be brought before the House of Commons when MPs return from recess in Autumn, and if Parliament approves the organ donation law, it will come into effect in England by Spring 2020.

Jackie Doyle-Price, parliamentary under-secretary of state for mental health and Inequalities said: 'Organ donation saves lives.

Children under 18, individuals who lack the mental capacity to understand the changes and people who have not lived in England for at least 12 months before their death will be excluded from the plans to ensure the system is fair.

An "opt-out" system for organ donation will be introduced in the United Kingdom in a move that should save hundreds of lives a year, the government will announce today.

Iran, US Trade Barbs Ahead Of Renewed Sanctions On Tehran
Iran's currency has lost around half its value since Trump announced the U.S. would withdraw from the nuclear pact. The US is threatening "severe consequences" for those who don't abide by their sanctions.

Further, 21% of people who died on the organ donation waiting list in the United Kingdom a year ago were from a BAME background.

From December 2018, the NHS Organ Donor Register will also include the option for people registering to donate to state that their faith is important to their organ donation decision.

Those who do want to opt out will be able to do so by using a National Health Service (NHS) app to be launched at the end of the year.

Currently, would-be donors must indicate their intentions on the NHS Organ Donor Register, or grieving families must make the decision if a patient's wish to donate is unknown.

Under the new plans, specialist nurses will be on hand to discuss donation with families after a loved one dies.

Supergirl Movie Reportedly In Development
The biggest one would be how, or if, Superman (Kara's cousin from comics lore) would play a role and if that character would still be played by Henry Cavill.

The announcement follows a consultation earlier this year, in which the Government sought views from members of the public about organ donation, receiving an unprecedented 17,000 responses.

Fiona Loud, policy director of Kidney Care UK, told BBC Breakfast the experience in Wales, where donations did not initially increase, showed the new system depended on widespread public support.

This opt-out system, opposite to the current opt-in system, will mean everyone is considered a willing organ donor unless they have explicitly recorded a wish not to be.

"People in older age groups can still save and transform lives through organ and tissue donation".

California wildfire now 2nd largest in state history
The state's recently ended five-year drought killed millions of trees, leaving them as brittle fuel for wildfires. At the same time, President Donald Trump blamed the state's environmental laws for the wildfires.
