Alex Cora discusses Trump's comments on Puerto Rico

The Republican president said Democrats had inflated the number of dead in Puerto Rico "in order to make me look as bad as possible" but he did not provide evidence.

Trump's Thursday morning tweets focused on a George Washington University study released last month that examined the toll from Hurricane Maria.

Hurricane strength wind gusts have knocked down trees and power lines, leaving more than half a million people in the dark.

President Trump has kept a close eye on the storm, tweeting about its developments and praising FEMA, first responders and law enforcement for their incredible work. He says, "Then, like magic, '3000 PEOPLE KILLED'". These activists have not made any attempt to count the actual number of hurricane-related deaths.

Of course, the 2,975-person death toll from Hurricane Maria was not a Democratic ploy to hurt Trump. Events surrounding the games helped raise money for recovery efforts. He's now falsely claiming that 3,000 people did not die in the wake of the devastating storm.

The report was commissioned by Puerto Rican Gov. Ricardo Rosselló, who faced public pressure after the original death toll was widely disputed.

"If (Trump) doesn't learn from his mistakes, he's going to make them again and people are going to continue to die", she told CNN television. "If you've seen Trump Tower, I'm pretty sure blind people decorated it", Colbert said. Curiel, a 60-year-old who had heart problems and diabetes, walked 10 flights of stairs to the ground floor of his condominium, twice a day, to get insulin from a refrigerator cooled by a generator after Hurricane Maria hit.

"I hate talking about politics and all that, but I think this is more than politics. Before, during, and after the two massive hurricanes, the President directed the entire Administration to provide unprecedented support to Puerto Rico", White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said.

"3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico", Trump wrote as Americans prepared for Hurricane Florence.

Almost a year ago, Hurricane Maria hit the island of Puerto Rico as a Category 4 storm, knocking out all power and devastating the island's 3.3 million inhabitants.

The Government will legislate to introduce a cap on charges if there is a no-deal scenario. An IDP may also be required for United Kingdom drivers hiring vehicles when in the EU.

Cora said Trump's words were "disrespectful" to his home.

Ahead of Florence striking the USA east coast, Mr Trump spoke with political leaders in the Carolinas and offered "whatever is needed", Sarah Sanders, the White House spokesman, said.

Paul Ryan, the Republican house speaker, said he had "no reason to dispute" the death toll of 3,000.

Puerto Rico's government is run by the New Progressive party, a pro-statehood, Puerto Rico-only party.

Trump resurfaced the debate this week when he boasted about his administration's response to the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico.
