Lloris is banned from driving for 20 months

Tottenham's captain admitted being more than twice the drink drive when police stopped his Porsche Panamera in London at 2am on August 24.

He was fined £50,000 and banned from driving for 20 months.

Henry Fitch, prosecuting, said Lloris had been driving at 15 miles per hour in a 30mph zone and veered "towards parked vehicles" before adjusting his course, also going through a red light.

A team spokesman said before the sentencing that Tottenham were treating the entire matter "extremely seriously".

Magistrate Amanda Barron said it was "pure luck" Lloris "did not cause damage to other vehicles or pedestrians", and his actions had put his and his passenger's lives at risk.

He veered his auto "towards parked vehicles" before correcting himself and went through a red light, prosecutor Henry Fitch said. The legal limit in England and Wales is 35mg.

Before being pulled over, Lloris had been dining in a restaurant and was showered with drinks by fellow diners.

Lloris, who wore a dark suit with no tie, spoke only to confirm his personal details and to admit a charge of drink driving.

Lloris, of East Finchley, spent a night in a cell at Charing Cross police station after failing a breath test in Marylebone.

Lloris has been sidelined for the last few weeks with a thigh injury, meaning he missed Spurs's 2-1 defeat to Watford and France's Uefa Nations League games against Germany and the Netherlands. "I made a mistake, I have to accept it".
