Cornwall's Adam McQuaid is on the move.

The Boston Bruins have traded defenseman Adam McQuaid to the New York Rangers for defenseman Steven Kampfer, a 2019 fourth-round pick, and a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick. He had 15 points (three goals, 12 assists). "10 years we've been together, going back to Providence", added Cassidy.

The Boston Bruins may not miss McQuaid's stats, but they will definitely miss him on the ice. He is a right-handed defenseman, which most clubs covet and need, with a Stanley Cup ring and a rep as a great teammate and character guy who will do anything to win.

Spanish moss waved in the trees as the winds picked up in Wilmington, and floating docks bounced atop swells at Morehead City. Two other people died in North Carolina's Carteret County, according to the county's emergency management services office.

In 2017-2018 the New York Rangers struggled on the blue line.

"Some teams reached out to me (about acquiring McQuaid) right around that July 1 time frame, so I sort of had things I'd explored". He carries a $2.75 million salary cap hit.

NBC Sports Boston reporter Joe Haggerty quoted Hammonds Plains, N.S., native Brad Marchand after the deal was announced. "So, it sucks. It's unfortunately part of the business".

As hurricane bears down on Carolinas, the waiting is over
Emergency declarations were in force in Georgia, South and North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. The storm crossed the Gulf Stream on Thursday and slowed dramatically, to just 5 miles per hour , as it approached land.

The Bruins made the announcement before flying to China for two exhibition games.

A native of Ann Arbor, MI, Kampfer has played in 166 career National Hockey League contests over five National Hockey League seasons with the Bruins, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers and Rangers. The five-foot-11, 195-pound blueliner was originally selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round of the 2007 draft before being traded to the Bruins on March 2, 2010.

McQuaid, 32 next month, faced the likely prospect of making more contributions off the ice in the coming season.

Millions brace themselves as Hurricane Florence approaches US coast
More than 80,000 people were already without power as the storm began buffeting the coast, and more than 12,000 were in shelters. People across the region rushed to buy bottled water and other supplies, board up their homes or get out of town.

The 31-year-old was limited to just 38 games this past season, putting up one goal and three assists.
