Seahawks to sign LB Mychal Kendricks after guilty plea to insider trading

Kendricks isn't expected to be sentenced until January 24, and according to Schefter the Seahawks will put him right to work.

Seattle Times sports writer Bob Condotta noted that in addition to injured KJ Wright, fellow linebacker Bobby Wagner showed up on the Seahawks injury report Thursday.

According to ESPN.com, the team brought in former Browns linebacker Mychal Kendricks for a visit on Thursday. It is reportedly a one-year deal.

Kendricks is the same player who pleaded guilty to an insider trading charge two weeks ago.

A week after the news broke, Kendricks pleaded guilty to charges meaning he could spend up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced in December.

Kendricks was indicted on charges of insider trading back on August 29. Browns GM John Dorsey indicated Kendricks lied to the team about his role and involvement in the insider trading scam after the team him as a free agent in the spring.

Kendricks, who turns 28 later this month, admitted before a federal judge in Philadelphia that he swapped cash, National Football League tickets and access to parties with a Wall Street-connected associate for nonpublic, market-shifting information.

After playing college football for the University of Calfornia, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He and Sonoiki were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and one count of securities fraud.
