Technology 2021: A first look at concepts for F1's future

The next major regulation change is set to be implemented in 2021, with a working group from F1 itself being headed up by managing director of motorsports Ross Brawn.

Formula 1 has become quite forward-thinking since getting new owners interested in more than just sucking as much profit out of the sport as possible. And even if the event was closed to the public, images showing the racer did surface online.

Although the final regulations have not yet been agreed upon, Brawn presented three concepts that have been developed by Formula One's aerodynamic group with the help of a designer.

A concept vision image of the 2021 Formula 1 vehicle has been leaked across social media giving us a glimpse of what to expect with the new generation offering. For the 2019 season, F1 already announced a simplified front wing with a larger span and low outwash potential, a simplified front brake duct with no winglets and a wider and deeper rear wing. Preliminary sketches of how that might make the cars look have gone through three phases.

F1 sporting boss Ross Brawn said the main objective was "to produce cars that are more raceable".

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals: Three Things We Learned
Flacco threw a pair of touchdown passes, including a 21-yarder to John Brown that cut it to 28-23 with 9:35 left. Mixon was in visible pain on the sidelines as he made multiple returns in and out of the game.

I don't know about you, but I love the way these three ideas look. "It frustrates me when a vehicle in a video game looks better than a auto that we're racing out on the track", he added.

"What our research showed early on is that the current cars are very bad at following each other".

"Once the cars get within a few auto lengths of each other, they lose 50% of their downforce".

Of the three, the third concept is the one most closely related to the current F1 cars, with the other silver auto (Concept 1) representing a more futuristic ideal - see the cleaner halo incorporation and more intricate spoiler.

For those starting on the hyper-soft, Pirelli recommends switching to the soft on lap 13, but such is the gap in performance between the hyper-soft and soft when new - over two seconds according to Mercedes - most teams are expected to opt for the ultra-soft and curb the pace of the auto if necessary to protect the rubber.

Prosecutors Said Celtic Jabari Bird Strangled Girlfriend A Dozen Times
Bird, 24, was held on $50,000 bail after not-guilty pleas to domestic violence-related charges were entered on his behalf. Prosecutors allege that Bird strangled his girlfriend, a college student, a dozen times during the altercation.

"I'm definitely going to be driving if cars look like this". The year 2021 stands to be key in Liberty's ownership of F1 as they are set to introduce a raft of new regulations, including new engines and tyres.

"That is not to control the development, because it's critical this development achieves its objectives, but why shouldn't we have great looking cars as we're evolving the cars?"

"We see it in other forms of racing, but they are often categories with fixed designs and everyone races the same vehicle. At the moment we have (new) designs that only lose 20% - maintain 80%".

Brawn said Formula One wanted drivers in cars that "young people want to stick up on their walls".
